Story of the Week

How David Beckham Earned 6,000% on his investment!

Everyone thought David Beckham was insane…

When he left Real Madrid to join MLS in 2007.

But the details of his contract would include life-changing passive income & investments.

Here’s how David Beckham turned a $32M contract into billions:

  1. The Move.

David Beckham's connection to MLS began when he joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007.

His move to the Galaxy from all-star team Real Madrid was a shocking signing & a massive deal for the league.

It would change the MLS forever.

  2. The Contract.

The details of Beckham's contract was his motivation to make the move.

He received a % of all the revenue the LA Galaxy would make, as part of his contract.

This included everything from merchandise to tickets, & even food + drinks that were sold at each game.

This meant that Beckham would receive millions in passive income from fans buying jerseys, beers & everything in between.

But that wasn’t the best part

Also a part of Beckham's contract was the option to purchase an MLS franchise upon retirement for $25M.

  3. The Retirement.

After his 5-year contract with LA Galaxy was up, Beckham announced his retirement in 2012.

During that 5 year period, it’s estimated he made around $250,000,000.

This came from not only his salary, but his revenue % & endorsement deals with brands like:

    • Pepsi

    • Adidas

    • Armani

    • Samsung

    • Sprint Mobile

    • more.

Although Beckham could have disappeared with his $250M, he wasn’t done just yet…

Beckham decided to exercise his option to purchase an MLS team for $25M.

His goal was to bring a team to Miami.

  4. The new team.

After a brief return to soccer with PSG...

In January 2018, it was officially announced that Beckham & his investment group had been granted an MLS expansion team in Miami.

With Beckham being the owner, Inter Miami would play its first game on March 1st, 2020.

    Within their first 2 years…

Inter Miami would become the 10th most valuable MLS club, worth $500,000,000+.

    That’s 20x more than Beckham’s initial investment of $25M.

& Then, only a few months ago in June, Inter Miami changed the game forever.

  5. The Messi effect.

Soccer legend Lionel Messi pulled a David Beckham & switched from European Futbol to Inter Miami.

The effect this move had on not only Inter Miami but MLS is mind-blowing...

As of right now, it’s estimated that Messi will increase LA’s valuation up to:

    More than $1,000,000,000.

That would take David Beckham’s initial investment of $25M up to more than $1,500,000,000.

    The Messi effect is real.

& Beckham is a genius for making it happen.

And that’s all for this week!

Hope you’ve enjoyed it and as always, invest for the better!

Cheers,
James Yeo
